a bit about me

I'm Sophie. My middle name is Jean. In high school, I created a throwaway Instagram account that combined these two names where I could share fun photos I had taken. Years later, the account name stuck around and I get to take photos in ways I never could have imagined.

I was born and raised in a small town in western Wisconsin near the St. Croix River where I still live today with my husband and our mini poodle. I have been taking photos for roughly seven years and I am completely in love with it. I see photos as heirlooms. Documented moments that can be told in a tasteful and artistic manner to share for generations to come. I believe that having a moment or time in life photographed should be approached with the greatest intentions and purpose. It's never "just photos".

I also believe that no one should hire a photographer solely off of their work. Of course you should like their style, but you should also like them as a person. Hire someone who will help you feel comfortable in front of the camera, who wants to be your friend, who you feel that you could get along with. When you're having a moment documented, your photographer is there for all of it. Make sure that it's someone you want along for the ride.
